GigAlarm Version 1.311 28 Nov 08 -- using 99% of the CPU

Postby TomGudan » Wed Dec 03, 2008 8:25 pm

I think I had this problem with a previous version.

As a test, I just powered my PC off, waited 30 seconds, and powered it back on.

After it came back up, the only thing I started was Task Manager and GigAlarm.

GigAlarm displayed alarms like always but in less than a minute, the CPU usage for GigAlarm went to 99% and stayed there.

I right clicked the icon and clicked exit. Nothing happened. I did it again and GigAlarm came down and CPU usage went to 2%.

This is reproducible.

PLEASE HELP.

Yes, I can replicate it too; but only if I use the alarm DB of yours that you sent in! Not during normal usage though, just while catching up. We really should start using your DB as a last test....

It's being looked into.

That's a good indicator. GigAlarm tries to shutdown all components prior to closing. If you ask it a second time then it closes anyway without waiting. This means that the interface is working OK... but something else isn't.

This seems to fix the issue with the database you sent in.

There are a few timing issues that need to be resolved; we want GigAlarm to be able to tolerate running your DBs better...
