GigAlarm 1.31 18 Oct 08 -- version info in Help file

It would be great if the top of the Help .htm file matched what is downloaded.

According to , I downloaded "Version 1.311 28 Nov 08".

After the download, the new .htm Help file showed "Version 1.31 18 Oct 08".

True, but that's not how it works. The dates, while not what you want, are useful for different reasons.

  • The ReadMe date is when the document was last worked on. Since in this case it's still dated for the old version it hasn't been updated and thus there's no need to re-read it. It's also useful to us so we know when it was last changed.
  • The release page simply says when the version was released. This generally is not the same date as when it was last worked on.

Our version numbers are structured like this...

...where 1 is the major version, 2 is the version, 3 is the minor version, and 4 is the release. The release number is only changed if there is a bugfix and in most cases there will be no new features (unless they were required to fix an urgent problem) and this the ReadMe will only be updated if there was a problem with it or if the bug fix needs explanation. Every released version has a different number, this however does not include pre-release Betas.
