CLEVELAND -- Kyrie Irving has been knocked out by an injury again, and its really painful for the Cavaliers. Irving will miss at least two weeks with a strained tendon in his left biceps, a major blow to Clevelands chances of making the NBA playoffs with only a month left in the regular season. Irving got hurt during the first half of Sunday nights loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The All-Star point guard did not return after missing all five shots and leaving the game for medical evaluation and treatment. He flew back with the Cavaliers and Monday underwent an MRI, which revealed "a strain in the long head tendon" of his biceps, the Cavs said in a release. The 21-year-old will be shut down for two weeks and re-evaluated. The Cavs said the tendons response "will determine the most appropriate course of treatment." Irvings injury couldnt come at a worse time for the Cavs. Hell miss at least eight of the final 15 games, and without their leading scorer and best player, it will be tough for the Cavs (26-41) to clinch the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland begins the week 4 1-2 games behind Atlanta, and the Cavs have a difficult schedule ahead with Miami, Oklahoma City and Houston in town over the next five days. And, equally troubling, is that Irving is again missing significant time due to an injury. He sat out 38 games his first two seasons with a variety of injuries, including a broken nose, fractured jaw, broken finger, sprained shoulder and concussion. One of Irvings goals was to play in all 82 games this season, but hes already missed three with a bruised knee and is expected to sit for eight more. Irving has scoffed at the notion that he is injury prone, but he hasnt made it through a full season and he was also sidelined during the summer after his rookie season when he broke his hand slamming it into a padded wall during a practice in Las Vegas. Irvings injury issues predated him turning pro as he played in just 11 games as a freshman at Duke because of a foot injury. Most of Irvings injuries have been unavoidable and bad luck because he plays hard and is unafraid to drive to the basket and draw contact from bigger, stronger players. Its not clear exactly when Irving was hurt on Sunday night. As the Cavs move forward theyll have to factor Irvings spotty medical history into their decision as to whether or not to offer him a maximum-year contract extension this summer. Cleveland hasnt made the playoffs since 2010, and this was supposed be the year the Cavs returned to the post-season and stayed out of the draft lottery. However, the club has underachieved in coach Mike Browns second stint and owner Dan Gilbert fired general manager Chris Grant last month. Now without Irving, the Cavs climb has gotten even steeper. Dan Marino Jersey . The midfielder had an operation on Saturday, and is set to miss seven Premier League games, the third round of the FA Cup and the semifinals of the League Cup. Showing more spark after not taking enough challenging shots on goal in their 1-0 loss Friday night, the Bruins had 18 shots in the first period after managing just 25 in the entire opener. Luke Glendening cut Bostons lead to 2-1 at 13:20 of the second period before Milan Lucic scored late in the second and Zdeno Chara added a power-play goal early in the third. Matt Moore Jersey . Courtney Lee tallied 17 points and Zach Randolph deposited 16 points with seven rebounds for Memphis, which continued the best start in franchise with a sixth straight win. (The Thunder) have good players, Grizzlies coach David Joerger said. Thats a good team and were lucky to get out of here with the win. Reggie Jackson led the depleted Thunder with 22 points, Jeremy Lamb scored 17 and Steven Adams registered 13 points with 11 rebounds. Oklahoma City, which had won three straight regular season home games in the series, has dropped three straight overall since a 102-91 win over Denver. I really dont think there is a team out there better than us, Jackson said. I dont care who we have. I thought we would be on the other side of this one tonight. In a rematch of last seasons first round playoff series that the Thunder won in seven games, Memphis led for the entire game until late in the fourth. Lamb followed Jacksons successful runner with a 3-pointer that tied the game at 81-81 with 4:09 to play. Lee and Conley then each hit a trey around a Jackson jumper to give the Grizzliies an 87-83 advantage.dddddddddddd Nick Collison found Serge Ibaka, who ended with 16 points, for a 3 preceding Jacksons triple that gave the hosts their only lead with 53.1 seconds remaining. Conley responded with a 3-pointer for a 90-89 margin on the next Memphis possession. After an empty possession from each team, Oklahoma City was whistled for a five-second turnover on the inbounds, but Lee only made 1-of-2 from the stripe with just three seconds on the clock. Out of a timeout, Ibaka ran through the lane, received the inbounds and was long on the potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Grizzlies led 22-19 after one quarter and led by as many as nine in the second, taking a 49-40 lead at the break. Memphis couldnt shake the pesky Thunder as it took a 66-62 lead into the fourth. Game Notes After suffering a knee contusion in Oklahoma Citys loss to the Raptors, Perry Jones missed the contest ... Memphis scored 17 points off 20 Oklahoma City turnovers ... The Thunder outscored their opponent 16-6 in second-chance points ... Marc Gasol finished with eight points, nine rebounds and a game- high three blocks in the win ...The Grizzlies went 9-for-18 from beyond the arc.
